What is Twitter? How does Twitter work?

What is Twitter?

Twitter is a social networking and microblogging facility that allows users to post and interrelate with short messages known as “tweets”. Tweets are incomplete to 280 characters and can comprise text, images, videos, and links. Users can follow other operators to see their tweets in their feed, and they can also retweet, like, and comment on other users’ tweets.

Twitter is used by people all over the world to connect with friends and family, share news and information, and express their thoughts and opinions. It is also a popular platform for trades and organizations to connect with their customers and promote their products and services.

Some of the things that people use Twitter for include:

  • Getting the latest news and updates on current events
  • Following their favorite celebrities, businesses, and organizations
  • Connecting with friends and family
  • Sharing their opinions and opinions on a variety of topics
  • Promoting their products or services
  • Finding new customers and partners

Twitter is a free platform to use, but there is also a paid subscription service called Twitter Blue that offers additional features, such as the ability to undo tweets and read ad-free.

Here are some examples of how Twitter can be used:

  • A journalist can use Twitter to share breaking news stories and updates.
  • A business can use Twitter to promote its crops and services, and to connect with its customers.
  • A celebrity can use Twitter to interact with their fans and to share their thoughts and opinions.
  • An individual can use Twitter to stay informed about current events, to connect with friends and family, and to share their own thoughts and opinions.

Twitter is a powerful device that can be used for a variety of purposes. It is a great way to stay connected with the world, to share your thoughts and ideas, and to learn new things.

Basics

A single post on Twitter is up to 280 characters long and is known as a ” tweet. ”

As a Twitter user, you have two main pages on which tweets remain displayed: The Twitter start page (your so-called home feed) and your profile (also known as the Me page). The Twitter homepage displays any tweets that you write and that you see from other people you follow. On your profile, there is a list of all the things that you have ever posted.

By the way: Of course, once you have written tweets, you can delete them again.

Followers

Every single user has an account that starts with @. It is followed by the actual Username – for example, @heiseonline. In this way, the user can be addressed directly in a post.

If you find a Twitter user particularly interesting, you can ” follow ” him. It means that this person’s posts will remain displayed on their own Twitter homepage

To tweet directly to someone else, start your tweet with @username. It is how this person receives a notification. The tweet will remain shown to anyone who follows both you and @username. People who only follow you will see the tweet on their home feed.

Suppose you want your tweet to remain read by all of your followers. But still, be aimed at a specific person. It would help if you did not put @username at the beginning of the tweet. It doesn’t matter whether you write something like, ” Great weather today. Isn’t it @username? ” Or whether you just put a period in front of the @ tag – like here.” @ Username agrees that the weather is today is excellent. ”

Hashtags

The # character is what is known as a hashtag. With this, you assign a kind of category to your tweet. A hashtag remains always linked to a keyword, such as #heisetipp or something similar. If you are particularly interested in a hashtag, you can click on it or search for it. How to find more tweets on the subject

Replies and retweets

You can quickly reply to it by clicking on ” Reply ” or the small speech bubble below a tweet. Entire discussions can remain held that anyone can view with a click on the original tweet. You can also like the post via the heart symbol, i.e., show the publisher that you want it. You can use the letter icon to send private messages. More on this below. In the meantime, Twitter has ” retweet ” the arrow symbol

Simplified, it makes it easy to share something with your followers that someone else tweeted. The original tweeter is also noted directly in your retweet. In the past, this was not the situation, so users wrote an RT before retweets. In this way, it was possible to show that the post did not come from them.

News

In addition to tweets, which are always public in one form or another, there are also direct messages (often abbreviated as DM for direct message or PM for private message). So you can talk privately with another Twitter user without the conversation read by all of the worlds.
